Launch of Gender Based Violence Policy Brief

KGGA launched a policy brief on Gender based violence at a Stakeholder meeting on August 13 and subsequently at a Media Breakfast on 14 August at Imperial Hotel, Kisumu. This policy brief was one of the main deliverables of the pilot project dubbed ‘Voices against Violence’ funded by United Nations Women that aims to prevent violence against girls and young women. The policy brief was well received by all the Stakeholders who lamented that violence is a growing concern in schools and in communities and therefore the initiative by KGGA is timely and necessary.  The media were also very interested in the project and the successes of it and  many stories on gender based violence will be generated from this.  This project builds on a campaign initiated by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), ‘Stop the Violence’, started in 2011 with KGGA’s participation.
