 Background:

The closure of schools early this year has had a major impact on all girls and young women, affecting the guiding activities that are normally conducted in schools, even as the world continues to grapple with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In line with our mandate: “To empower girls and young women to develop, exploit and utilize their fullest potential as leaders and responsible citizens of the world”. Kenya Girl Guides Association (KGGA) is committed to continue deliver our value based programme activities to our girls within the safety of their homes.

Who can join?

The @Home activities will involve Rainbows, Brownies, Girl Guides and Rangers

They are in line with our mission and vision;

KGGA Mission is “To Raise girls and young women to be beacons of integrity nurturing and championing social values”

@Home activities include:

 

  • Creative art and craft
  • Environmental care
  • Nature lover
  • My personal Hygiene
  • Creative songs and dance
  • Being a young citizen
  • Online camping
  • Online debates and talk shows
  • My Covid 19 story among others

What am I expected to do?

Every week Monday KGGA will circulate online an activity pack to all signed up participants that will be done during the week and submitted to the coordinator on Friday of the same week. Assessment will be done weekly and the best 3 performers will earn a star and overall star of the week announced.

At the end of each month all girls who have successfully participated in all the activities of the preceding month will earn an activity badge for completion of that stage.

At the end of the Guiding at home programme all those who have successfully completed the activities will get a special recognition by the Association through the annual report and priority to be considered for opportunities to participate in KGGA’s local and international events.

What is required?

The Parents/Guardians can download the weekly activity packs for the respective branch/age on the KGGA website. The activity can also be sent via email, WhatsApp or other social media platforms on request. Once the activity is completed, it will be submitted to KGGA through info@kgga.co.ke or WhatsApp No. 0799 664204.

How long will it take?

The 2020 activities will be weekly from August to December.

How much does it Cost?

The activity packs will have a monthly charge of Kshs 1,800 for the Members and Kshs 2,000 for Non-members payable in advance.

For the Ranger Guides (those in High School) they will be invited for online debates and talk shows and will be expected to send topics of interest through the social media pages.

A moderator/host for each session will be picked from amongst them through balloting.

A guest speaker/subject expert will be invited to present and engage the girls on discussions on the topic.

To receive a link to participate in the sessions, the Rangers will pay Kshs 200 for each session payable in advance.

NB- The registration/payment of Cohort 1 is open and the deadline for this first Cohort is Friday 21st August 2020 at 5pm. The activities will commence on 24th August 2020 and thereafter registration continues for new Cohorts.
