IOGT- ALCOHOL PREVENTION PROJECT

Goal – To keep children safe from the ill effects of alcohol abuse by reducing underage drinking by 20%in 47 Counties in Kenya active in Girl Guiding by 2021

In partnership with a Swedish International NGO, KGGA has been supporting the  implementation of  an empowerment program on prevention of alcohol use and abuse by engaging girls as peer educators in schools and  in their communities.

Aims

  • To ensure that alcohol issues are mainstreamed into the National Girl Guiding program in Kenya. This will ensure that at least 150,000 girl guides are reached with messaging on Alcohol Prevention.
  • To Ensure that alcohol prevention and response structures are set up, through training and facilitation of volunteers to implement project in schools and community level.
  • To Ensure that at least 20 counties pass by laws or strengthen existing laws to protect children exposure to alcohol and the effects of alcohol abuse in families and community
